About Festi

Welcome to the Festi Blog created by the Columbia Festival of the Arts.
The Festi Blog will give you a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of the Festival as we "Celebrate the Arts" year round. This blog will also be your go-to source for information about the arts scene in Howard County and the surrounding region as well as a unique voice about important issues in the arts industry, including trends, funding issues, news highlights, commemorations, and developments across genres and disciplines - issues that we know are important to you.
But for now, more about the blog's namesake. FestiMaximus, Festi for short, was born in 2009, the original character created by then 11-year-old Winnie Tsao as her entry in the K-12 poster design contest. Joyful and comprised of all of the elements that make up a multidisciplinary arts organization, Festi was immediately adopted by the Columbia Festival of the Arts. A world traveler, you never know where Festi will turn up next. Festi often seeks out unique arts opportunities and sends back postcards and notes to the Festival team. Stay tuned for updates on Festi's travel adventures.
